5 Back-to-School Tips for Christian Educators

Back-to-School means Back-to-Jesus!  This week’s Faith Filled Friday centers around sharing Jesus within your workplace. My good friend and colleague, Morgan Preston, shares her heart as a Christian educator living out her faith within her workplace. Her encouraging tips and resources offer real-life and practical ways to seek God among the Back-to-School chaos.

Just as Paul encouraged Timothy to remain steadfast in speaking the truth, we too are encouraged to guard that truth being ready to share with those God places within our path. As educators begin their school year, they quickly absorb the needs of their students and what greater joy we have than to lay those needs at the Father’s feet.

Here are Morgan’s 5 Tips for Christian Educators:

Tip 1:  PRAY FOR YOUR STUDENTS

As believers, this is our superpower!   Pray over your students and pray specifically for them by name. Then, begin praying over your classroom, the student’s desks and classroom supplies.

Tip 2: SCRIPTURES

Place scriptures that are meaningful and encouraging to you in your personal workspace. It truly helps to keep your thoughts focused on things above.

“I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and relevation in the knowledge of Him.” Ephesians 1:17

“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned.” Titus 2:7-8

Tip 3: BIBLICAL COMMUNITY

Find Biblical partners in your building to have spiritual conversations with and to go to for Christian advice. Life is better together.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” I Thessalonians 5:11

Tip 4: INTENTIONAL DAILY PRAYER

Schedule time in your day for intentional prayer over your teaching and your students. (Bonus Tip: Pray the scriptures that you’ve got around your desk!)

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14

“…The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” James 5:16b

Tip 5: BE INVOLVED

Enroll in Christian Educators Association International’s 1:16 Prayer Initiative. Their website has many valuable resources not only for educators but for every believer.  It also provides helpful information about how to legally share your faith within your classroom.

As an educator, please know I am praying for you. Remember, God placed you exactly where you are for such a time as this. Watch the video as Morgan not only shares her heart for her students, but she also shares how God is unfolding Truth in her life through Rick Warren’s book, Purpose Driven Life

Please leave a comment on how you share your faith within your workplace. My passion for Unfolding Ministries is for women to encourage other women by sharing  how God is unfolding His Word in their lives. I look forward to hearing from you.

Until next Friday: pray, read God’s Word, and do what He tells ya to do.

Living out Romans 1:16,
