Meet Heather

Heather is a wife and momma of three who loves bangle bracelets and the perfect leopard skin accessory. She enjoys coffee, Twizzlers, and a rich piece of chocolate cake.

During the day, she is a Jesus Girl disguised as a school-based, Speech-Language Pathologist using her communication disorder to empower and encourage children and teens to discover their voice.

Alongside her husband John and their children, Heather has served her local church body in various ministries. The McVeys are involved in local and state missions and have a heart for overseas ministry. Additionally, Heather has served as a Women’s Bible Teacher, Women’s Life Group Coach, and plays piano/synth in the Worship Band.

When God called Heather into women’s ministry in 2016, He began to stir a passion for studying and teaching scripture, learning how to effectively apply it to everyday life. Unfolding Ministries was created within that passion:  to teach and equip women to pursue righteousness, unfolding the Word, as they walk worthy of their calling.

Testimonials

“Heather McVey’s leadership style motivated the Women’s Mission Union of Knox County to live for Christ in a manner reflective of Jesus walk here on earth. The energy conveyed as she shared scripture and used visual examples of her message ensured an amazing night for our ladies. WMU as an organization was challenged to be filled the Fruits of the Spirit in order to overcome the spiritual warfare Satan uses to attack us. Our ladies as individuals were instructed to frequently fill their spiritual buckets through prayers, scriptures, and devotion so that we can stay strong from emptying ourselves as we share our love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control with those people we encounter each day. Our WMU ladies left our program with knowledge and tools to live a successful Christian walk. We love and appreciate Heather so very much.”

“Heather, I want to thank you so much for wonderful devotional that was presented to L.I.F.T. (Ladies In Faith Together) . Our ladies were certainly stirred up from the teaching and were so encouraged to continue stirring one another up. It was a great reminder that the very little things can be of great value. Thank you for the reminder to be prayed up, studied up and ready for the Kingdom work. The handouts and study guide were great. Thanks again for the stirring ….. God certainly has his hands on your ministry.”

“We throughly enjoyed having Heather as our speaker for our youth retreat for girls in 7th-12th grade! She was very well-prepared, relevant, engaging, and most importantly Spirit-led. God used her in such a mighty way that weekend that I can vividly remember the things she taught even months later. Her lessons were such a blessing to our students who attended and to the adults that helped. It is very evident that she loves to dig into the Word and share the truth of the Bible with others. God has certainly gifted her with the ability to teach and connect with girls and women of all ages. I’ve been blessed to hear Heather teach in multiple settings over the last few years (speaking to hundreds of ladies at a women’s event, a youth retreat with less than 20 girls, a WMU meeting, and through a Bible study I participated in) In each of these settings, God used her to spur me on to treasure Christ more deeply and to seek Him more fervently.”
