ACTS Prayer Method

“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” A.W. Tozer

Prayer.  It is the ability to listen and speak to Jesus Christ, Lord of Lords. In the blog post, “3 Reasons to Become a Better Jesus Girl with Prayer”, we unfolded that prayer is personal, a priority and purposeful.

I am a busy, working Momma who typically runs off of hazelnut flavored coffee (3 Splendas, please) and five hours sleep. I know – I struggle with being a good steward of my time; I am a work in progress. 🙂  Based on this realization, I have created a prayer guide that keeps my mind focused on God when I am purposefully making it a priority to know Him on a personal level.

The A.C.T.S. Prayer Method is one of many. As an adolescent, my Momma first taught me this method, and its effectiveness has been proven over time. The A.C.T.S. Method will pilot you through prayers of adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication.

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.”

Jeremiah 29:12 (ESV)

Adoration~ Praise God for the awesome God that HE is. Pray using the attributes of God.

“Exalt the Lord our God; worship at His footstool! Holy is He!” Psalm 99:5 (ESV)

Confession~ Confess our sins to God. Be specific when you are becoming transparent before God.

“Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, ‘I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.’ And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.” Psalm 32:5 (NLT)

Thanksgiving~ Give thanks for God’s grace, mercies, provisions, love, protection, and all of the blessings He freely gives us.

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!” Psalm 100:4 (ESV)

Supplication: Make requests that you bring before God for others and yourself.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

By unfolding “A weekly prayer guide using A.C.T.S., you engage in meaningful, daily prayer time with the Lord. I have included seven worksheets, one for each day, to use in transforming your prayer life, making it  personal, a priority and purposeful. I can’t wait to hear how prayer changes your walk in becoming a better Jesus Girl.

Praying it with you,

Heather
